Write down what you want to understand in one sentence. A focused question helps you compare authors and see whether a book offers evidence, context, practical tools, or a new perspective.
Preview before you buy
Read the contents and a sample chapter to judge the author’s approach, level of detail, and whether the language or translation works for you. A relevant topic can still have an unsuitable edition.
Check the edition
Compare author, publisher, publication year, translator, language, format, and ISBN. For international orders, include shipping, delivery time, and return terms. For eBooks, check account region and publishing rights.
Keep a note of your own
After a chapter, record one useful idea, one question, and one way to test or apply it. Separate the author’s claim from your view, and check important claims against original sources.
